I recently gave an interview to Michael Covel of “Trend Following Radio” podcast which I found thoroughly enjoyable and stimulating. Over the years I’ve read much of Michael’s articles, interviews and one of his books so I already knew we were very much on the same wavelength when it came to investment trading, but our talk was so much more gratifying to me because it seems that there’s something about trend following philosophy which spills over into many other spheres of life.

That may be because trend following rests on human psychology and research inevitably leads you down profoundly fascinating routes, exploring the complex interaction of the individual with the collective and the dynamics that emerge through this interaction. Over the last two decades, millions of individual investors worldwide set up brokerage accounts to manage their own portfolios. However, most of them took up the challenge with flawed trading strategies, or with no strategy at all. Brokers’ own statistics show that most individual investors lose money. Clearly, they need a more disciplined, strategic approach to managing their portfolios. Trend following could be the best strategy to fit the bill. Demonstrably, market trends are the most powerful drivers of investment performance and the strategy of trend following has proven as the best way to invest profitably for the long haul.

Alex Krainer seeks to explain trends and trend following, to put the challenge of investing in its proper context, and to offer a clear understanding of the key challenges and pitfalls facing investors. He covers the basic tools and methods of trend following, structuring the curriculum in its correct theoretical and practical framework to better equip investors to navigate the markets profitably, with confidence and peace of mind.

Bio: Alex is the founder of Krainer Analytics and creator of I-System Trend Following. He has worked as a market analyst, researcher, trader and hedge fund manager since 1996. Alex was born and raised in a socialist regime of former Yugoslavia, under one-party communist rule. He created Altana Wealth’s systematic portfolio allocation strategy designed to bridge the gap between technology and finance.
